Description

This exceptional and rare 18th-century French “Vitrine Galbée” originates from Paris, Île-de-France, and is made from oak with a gracefully curved façade. The two-part cabinet features the original glass panes, each with subtle color variations and charming bubbles, a hallmark of early glassmaking techniques. The top section includes four fixed-height shelves, perfect for displaying treasured items, while the lower section offers ample storage with paneled doors.
Crafted with dowel joints and square nails, this vitrine retains its original brass hardware, including two functioning keys—one for the upper glass doors and another for the lower wooden doors. The attention to detail in the carving and the organic variations in the glass add to its unique charm. The brass keyplates and hinges enhance the piece’s elegant yet sturdy design, and its overall construction reflects the high-quality craftsmanship of the period.
A superb example of 18th-century French cabinetry, this vitrine is both a decorative and functional piece, offering historical authenticity and timeless beauty. Perfect for collectors or those looking to add a rare, antique touch to their space.
