Description
A fine French gilt bronze wall light from the early twentieth century, distinguished by its naturalistic floral design and balanced five-light composition. The piece reflects a confident interpretation of botanical forms, combining sculptural detail with a light and harmonious structure.It features four scrolling arms radiating from a central stem, each supporting a faux candle light with a cream-toned sleeve. The arms are richly adorned with finely modelled flowers and foliage, including open blooms and buds rendered with notable precision and depth. At the centre, a vertical stem rises to a fifth light, topped by a lily-form cup that anchors the composition. The gilded surface has developed a warm, even patina, with gentle wear that enhances the crispness of the casting. No maker’s mark or signature is visible, though the quality of execution is clearly of a high standard.
Its generous proportions, precise casting, and balanced bouquet composition give it a strong presence even when unlit. Well suited to an entry, dining room, or bedroom, it brings warmth and depth, with its layered flowers and scrolling arms creating a lively sculptural accent on the wall.
