Description
This petite walnut bedside table dates to the early 20th century and is shaped in the graceful spirit of the Louis XV style. The top is framed by a gently contoured three-quarter gallery, while a scalloped apron is centered with a small carved floral motif. Slender cabriole legs curve elegantly as they descend, lending the piece a light, elevated stance. The open compartment is flanked by side panels pierced with quatrefoil cutouts, introducing decorative detail and a subtle play of shadow. The walnut has matured to a rich, warm brown with a soft satin sheen, showing light wear and minor surface marks consistent with age and use.
Its modest scale makes it an easy companion beside a bed, where the upper bay keeps a small lamp and a glass close at hand, while the lower shelf accommodates small volumes or nighttime essentials. It also works as a refined accent in an entry for keys and mail. The warm walnut pairs gracefully with linen, stone, and patinated metals, bringing a quiet note of understated elegance to both traditional and contemporary interiors.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
