Description
This exquisite pair of boiserie wall sconces are most likely Italian and date from the nineteenth century. Sourced from a chateau in Provence, the dark solid “noble” wood has been carved expertly with classical imagery: the central zone forming pomegranates, apples, and berries, while acanthus leaves adorn the sections below and above. The upper part of the sconces have a shimmering gilt finish. Undoubtedly this visual feast would bring a sense of classicism to a modern or traditional interior. Repairs have been made.
Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
