Description
This grand and beautifully proportioned Provençal two-part buffet with vitrine, crafted in solid walnut with a warm patina, dates from the late 18th to early 19th century. The upper section features an elegant arched bonnet above a pair of glazed doors gracefully framed by rococo C-scrolls. Although later replacements, the glass panes are antique, their subtly wavy surface fitting the piece well and harmonizing with its period character. Inside, two fixed shelves provide generous and practical space for displaying ceramics, glassware, or books. Beneath the lower shelf, two small drawers add a thoughtful touch of practicality and charm, ideal for storing cutlery. The lower buffet offers ample enclosed storage for linens and tableware behind two serpentine-molded doors.Long exterior hinges, refined brass escutcheons, and a delicately shaped skirt on short cabriole feet complete the composition, which embodies the enduring Louis XV influence interpreted through regional craftsmanship.
