Seventeenth-Century French Oak Writing Desk – Rustic Antiquity

Description

This exceptional rustic desk is made from French oak. The original carvings on the front and sides date to the 17^th century. It was once a chest in the office of an organist in a French church, and it was converted into a desk in the 19^th century. The cupboards, desk top and flat elements were added at this time. The linear carving on the side panels is known as serviette. There are two cupboards with a centre drawer.
