Description
A charming late 19th-century two-part painted wood dresser, finished in a softly distressed sage green and decorated with hand-painted floral panels in warm ochre and cream. Despite its generous storage, the piece remains rather compact in scale and visually light, making it easy to place even in smaller rooms. The upper section is topped with a gently shaped cornice and fitted with twin glass doors opening to two fixed shelves, while the lower case offers two short frieze drawers above paneled cupboard doors and rests on turned bun feet, giving the whole dresser a balanced, graceful proportion. The surface displays a pleasing timeworn character, with weathered edges, scattered paint losses, and wear to the serving ledge between the tiers, all consistent with long service and contributing to its authentic patina. The key is no longer present; however, the doors close securely, with the left doors held in place by original metal latches.Well suited to kitchens, pantries, or garden rooms, this dresser brings a gentle wash of color and an easy, informal grace. The glass-fronted upper section is ideal for displaying ceramics, glassware, or storing spices and herbs, while the lower cupboard accommodates linens and serving pieces. Its quiet palette pairs beautifully with stone, pale woods, and natural textiles, adding a collected country-house feel without overwhelming a space.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
